ATTN: Special event for July, plus venue location update!
DDPPCLE believes access to safe, legal abortion is an important and necessary component of basic healthcare. As you very well know by now, Ohio’s Heartbeat Detection Ban, which bans abortion for most people who are 6 weeks pregnant or further, was implemented when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. We know many people are feeling helpless, hopeless, and without direction, so for our July dance party, we want to give you an outlet and some ways to get involved. DDPPCLE presents a 3-Step Call to Action!
Step 1: GET MAD. Dance with us and let out your rage! We’ll have a playlist for you that celebrates empowerment and action, but also gives you a chance to dance through your emotions. PLEASE NOTE that our in-person location has changed! KINK Contemporary are still our hosts, but they’ve got a new venue: 15515 Waterloo Rd., Cleveland, OH. If you plan to dance with us in person, please RSVP to our Facebook event! We will still provide the option to dance virtually through Zoom. (Link above.)
Step 2: GET GIVING. We are once again raising funds for Preterm Cleveland, a licensed ambulatory surgery facility and independent, nonprofit abortion clinic that does not receive government funding. We raised $340 in May after the Supreme Court documents leaked and we would love to raise at least another $160 in order to bring our total donation to $500!
Step 3: GET ACTIVE. Many organizations and abortion funds need your help. A Toolkit for Reproductive Freedom was created by several local organizations including @acluoh, @prochoiceoh, @faithchoiceohio, @ohiowomensalliance, @pretermclevelandoh, @urgeoh_org, and @whoohio. Check out the toolkit, follow these organizations on social media, and look for ways to get involved. And don’t forget Ohio’s primary is August 2! Deadline to register is July 5!
Housekeeping: DDPPCLE events are for all women and non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women.
